MQM-PIB leader Kamran Tessori dismissed reports that he has resigned from the party over withdrawal of his candidature from Senate’s election.
Tessori reportedly stepped down as deputy convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-P), shortly after Farooq Sattar withdrew his candidates from the Senate’s race.
He was one of the four candidates initially named by Dr Farooq Sattar, a decision which caused an intra-party rift and split MQM-P into Bahaudrabad and PIB factions.
MQM-P Bahadurabad faction led by Amir Khan acted swiftly and replaced Dr Farooq Sattar with Maqbool Siddiqui as the party’s convener.
Succumbing to Bahadurabad group’s demand, Dr Farooq Sattar finally retraced all his Senate’s candidates.
“The Rabita Committee can finalize the names. I will announce their names,” he told media at PIB Colony. “I have taken this decision to save the party, workers and the community from division,” he said.
According to a source, Kamran Tessori submitted his resignation to Dr Farooq Sattar.
Speaking to SAMAA, Tessori said he hasn’t resigned from the party, adding all these speculations are a conspiracy against the party.
